A Personal Journey: Coastal Fitness Center’s Transformation Challenge. Bring on 2022!

Without this becoming a marketing ploy, I wanted to take a moment and give you my honest feedback and overall thoughts on Coastal’s Transformation Challenge. This will be my third year participating as well as supporting the transformation challenge and I can say with all sincerity, it truly is a transformation. I have seen males and females lose x% body fat, gain x% lean muscle and above all of that, create healthy, sustainable changes in their lives. I have witnessed individuals drop their blood sugar and A1C levels reducing their risk for diabetes and (a year later) continuing that healthy lifestyle! The individuals who decide and commit to creating healthy habits through exercise, nutrition and overall wellness for these 10 weeks see results that carry on.

During our 2021 Transformation Challenge I was 6 months postpartum. I was stuck. My body fat % was not moving mainly because my muscle mass was not increasing. I was exercising but unbeknownst to me, not the correct way for my goals. I was not lifting heavy enough even though my body was ready to progress. My main source of exercise was cardio and I was not fueling myself for the amount of energy I was exerting. Being part of the transformation challenge gave me the right tools and the motivation / fun I needed to reach my goals. As for the training piece, I needed the expertise from Coastal Fitness Center. I needed Logan, Gordon, Jerry, etc. to educate me on not only what I needed to do but how and when. As for the nutrition piece, I needed accountability. I needed to sit in those accountability meetings every Saturday morning and talk with the other participants about their weeks – their challenges, their wins, their life hacks! Motivating me to do better but also reminding me to applaud myself for the habits I had been creating. Even though I was there for them giving little tidbits of nutrition advice, they were there for me on a larger scale.

Between the group workouts, our fun competitive bootcamps, our Zumba dance-offs and our weekly accountability meetings, 10 weeks absolutely flew by. I gained more knowledge in those 2.5 months surrounding my fitness goals and how to achieve them. On top of that, it was one of the most fun and inviting challenges I had ever been a part of leading me to a better version of ME! Not only growing physically but mentally and emotionally. I grew stronger. Believed and showed myself I could do more and push myself more. I grew smarter. Understanding my body and what it needed at that moment. I became calmer and more patient. Emotionally able to ground myself in ways I could not before. This is a unique and special challenge, not like any others I have participated in the past. I am thankful to have the opportunity to participate again this year, but I am beyond grateful to be part of the support system. Happy 2022 to each and every one of you and I cannot wait to see what this year brings us! You. Are. Amazing!
